High demands?

CDC (cataphoretic dip coating) is an electrochemical coating process in the form of an electro-dip coating. KTL, unlike powder coating, can also be used for complex components such as car body parts, penetrating into cavities and thus protecting the inside of the workpiece against corrosion. The workpieces can then be powder coated in in any colour according to the customer’s requirements and thus receive additional UV protection and optical enhancement.

CDC is especially suitable as a primer before the final coating of steel, aluminium and other alloyed metals. It offers a very high level of corrosion protection and is also used as a replacement for hot-dip galvanising. The advantages of the CDC process are the fully automatic and highly economical coating of materials, which creates a uniform and thin layer with extreme adhesion. By the complete coating – or in other words the all-round painting of all parts – unpainted points of support are avoided.

CDL is aimed at sectors in which high corrosion resistance is required:
  • Industrial and mechanical engineering
  • Agricultural machinery
  • Forestry technology
  • Equipment manufacturing
  • Trucks and commercial vehicles
  • Automotive industry
  • Vehicle body painting
  • Mining and tunnel construction

Qualitiy without Limits

Compared to our competitors, we are able to carry out CDC primer (corrosion protection) with subsequent powder coating in all RAL colours. This coupled process in this form is unique in the coating process

Depending on the customer’s wishes and requirements, the parts to be treated are either only CDC coated or additionally provided with a powder coating. As the CDC also serves as a primer, you can also finish the surface yourself with wet paint – for example bodywork or underbody painting.

As with all coating methods, a wet chemical pretreatment is necessary before the actual painting process. In an eleven-zone immersion pretreatment, all impurities and residues are first removed from the workpiece surface. These include corrosion protection oils, drawing greases, welding and adhesive residues from workpiece production. A high-quality surface can only be achieved if the raw material is properly pre-cleaned.

In the entire process, particular attention must be paid to the perfect interaction of all components in order to achieve a flawless surface for all metals such as steel, galvanised steel and aluminium. A CDL system that can optimally pretreat all metals, especially aluminium, is a big step into the future.

In this way, we address a large group of customers and are expanding our range of parts in the direction of multi-metal processing with flexible pretreatment variants.

At the Lebring site, the maximum processing size of the parts is L6000 x H2000 x W2200 mm and a maximum unit weight of 1,500 kg. At the Griffen site there is a system with a maximum processing size of L7200 x H2000 x W1500 mm and a max. Unit weight of 1200 kg.
